Field of Honor
The Veterans Council of Hillsborough County Inc. will conduct a Field of Honor Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park & Rear Adm. Leroy Collins Jr. Veterans Museum, 3602 N. U.S. 301, Tampa, Saturday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m.
In addition to honoring war casualties of the past three months, there will be a special tribute to the 30 Special Operations Force members killed in Afghanistan Aug. 6, when their helicopter was shot down.
The U.S. Central Command Color Guard will present the colors and Hillsborough County firefighter Chip Shields will sing the National Anthem.

The ceremony is open to the public. The names of every soldier, sailor, airman, Marine and Coast Guard member who died during the last three months will be read and a flag will be placed in the field in their honor.
There will be several Gold Star Wives in attendance and AMVETS Post 44 of Brandon will host the ceremony. Boy Scouts from Troop 110 in Brandon will conduct a flag retirement ceremony behind the museum.
