Community Corner

Cards for Troops

Center Place Fine Arts and Civic Association and The Community Roundtable are sponsoring the 5th annual  Cards for Troops project Saturday, October 6 from 9 AM to 3 PM at Center Place.  Last year, we created over 2,500 cards for our service personnel.

This is a FREE community event to show support for our troops stationed overseas.  Volunteers will create hand-made cards for our service men and women.  The inside is left blank for the soldiers to write a personal sentiment to their families.

Here are four ways for you to get involved:

1.  Sponsorship - The total cost of supplies is over $3,000.  All donations over $100 will have your business name placed on the matching number of cards acknowledging your generosity, i.e. $375 = 375 labels.  Your logo will also be displayed on all flyers and posters.
2.   Soldiers’ Addresses - If you have the contact information of someone overseas, please give us their complete address.  We will send them a package of cards to distribute throughout their unit.  We are especially interested in sending cards those in the foreign hospitals to send to their loved ones.
3.  Volunteers - Have fun assembling the cards!  Snacks will be provided for participants.
4.  Snack Food Donations - Any amount of food for the volunteers is welcomed.  Your business will be listed on all flyers and posters.

If you can help with any of the above items, please contact Dawn at 685-8888.  Checks are made payable to Center Place.  Your contribution is a 501 (c)(3) tax deduction.
