There will be plenty of barking, sniffing and, um, raising of hindlegs this weekend in Circa FishHawk as the annual Dog Fest gets under way.
This year's festival is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 6 from 1 to 4 p.m. at 5925 Village Center Dr., in Circa FishHawk off Boyette Road in Lithia.
Last year's Dog Fest attracted several hundred people and their canine companions who came together to show off their dogs, interact with local vendors and raise funds for pet-related causes.
In addition to vendor displays, Dog Fest will include music, food, drinks, contests, demonstrations, samples and raffle prizes.
Prizes will be given for the best doggie costume, cutest puppy and owner/dog look-alikes. There is a $5 entry fee for each contest.
There also will be pet blessings, a training demonstration and Rescue Row for those seeking a companion.
The event is organized by Aliquity, a nonprofit group that hosts events that connect business owners to their communities while supporting local charities.
Annual events hosted by Aliquity include Dog Fest, the Jingle Run at Bell Creek and a Chili Fest.
