Bloomingdale Patch Pet of the Week

Angelina is a special-needs cat who needs loving care.

If ever a kitty deserved her name, Angelina does. Was it an angel that told her to follow those school children home after school one day last spring? Was it an angel that told their mom to take a second look as she was about to close the door on just another stray?

When she saw Angelina, she knew she had to get her to a vet right away. Angelina had been attacked by a dog. She was covered with bloody bite marks. Her jaw drooped in an odd fashion because she'd been shaken by the throat. Most of her wounds could be easily treated but her broken jaw was going to be another matter. It was going to take time, specialized vet care, surgeries and a lot of healing. Dr. Christy Poulin at Timberlane Animal Hospital and Dr. Callum Hay at Veterinary Surgical Services just couldn't turn her away.

Now it was CatCall's turn to save the day. Like others who had helped this Sealpoint Siamese mix with the beautiful blue eyes, CatCall couldn't say "no" or turn her away. Angelina would continue to do what she had to do to survive. She wouldn't complain. Never mind that she couldn't open her mouth to eat like the rest of the kitties. She'd eat dry food watered down to a paste. Never mind that she couldn't open her mouth wide enough to eat it out of a bowl. She'd just scoop it up with her paw and lick it off that way. Never mind that she didn't have a home. When she arrived at Bloomingdale Pet Supply, she just acted like she had always been there.

Was she guided by an angel? Or, is she an angel? What is it about this kitty that draws out the best in people who never suspect they have so much love to give? So many have helped her, yet Angelina always seems to need another angel. Someday that special, forever home will come along. Angelina will wait. Until then, many vet bills need to be paid, currently nearing $900.
