5 Things to Know Today, Sept. 21: Money-Saving Tips and More

Here's some things you might want to know as you go about your day.

1. New members are always welcome. Drop by the Brandon Newcomers Club today, Sept. 21, at 9:30 a.m. at the Brandon Community Center, 502 E. Sadie St., Brandon. After the meeting, members will go to lunch at Olive Garden in Regency Square.

2. The Brandon Chapter of the La Leche League meets the third Wednesday of the month at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 3315 S. Bryan Rd., Brandon, for women who breast-feed or plan to. Call 813-685-1096 or 813-817-8462.

3. The Bloomingdale Regional Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico, will offer Money-Saving Tips with Carrie the Coupon Queen Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m.

Carrie the Coupon Queen is passionate about coupons, and wants to spread her enthusiasm to as many people as possible. In this lively and informative program, consumers will learn how to minimize spending and save big in the places they shop most.

4. Hillsborough County’s Family and Aging Services is hosting its 21st Community Workshop on Sept. 22 at 8:30 a.m. at the Bridges Retirement Community (Clubhouse), 11202 Dewhurst Drive, Riverview.

This year’s theme is "Finding Our Way Through the Maze of Alzheimer’s Disease and Depression."

This workshop will provide information on the latest developments in Alzheimer’s research, information about placement and managing challenging behaviors associated with dementia and depression. Participants will also learn about Hillsborough County’s newest resource for those who cannot find their way home.

This workshop is ideal for adult day care or nursing home administrators, Aging Services network professionals, case managers, family or professional caregivers, and healthcare or long-term care professionals. Continuing education units are available for nursing home administrators and social workers.

Registration is required and seating is limited. Lunch will be provided.

This workshop is presented in partnership with The Bridges Retirement Community.
