5 Things to Know Today, Oct. 17: Career Support and More

Here's some things you might want to know as you go about your day.

1. Grab your umbrellas. There's a 40 percent chance of rain today.

2. The Brandon Recreation Center, 510 E. Sadie St., Brandon, will offer an eight-week dog obedience course. A basic course takes place Monday or Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. A sub-novice course takes place Wednesday or Thursdays from 7 to 8 p.m. The registration fee is $80. 3. Knitting Matters, for knitting enthusiasts, takes place at the Bloomingdale Regional Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico, Mondays at 10 a.m.

4. The St. Stephen Career Transition Ministry offers career aptitude counseling and support for those who are out of work each Monday at 7 p.m. at St. Stephen Catholic School, 10424 St. Stephen Circle, Riverview.

5. A support group for people with depression or bipolar disorder meets Mondays at 7 p.m. at Brandon Christian Church, 910 Bryan Road, Brandon.
