5 Things to Know Today, Oct. 10: Discovering the Universe and More

Here's some things you might want to know as you go about your day.

1. The Bloomingdale Regional Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico, will offer Astronomy for Everyone: Size and Scale of the Universe Monday, Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m.

This family-oriented presentation uses hands-on activities and assorted visuals, including incredible video footage. Learn about the size and scale of the universe, the stars, and other celestia lwonders. Following the presentation (weather permitting), a powerful telescope will be set up outdoors to view the moon, the rings of Saturn and other beautiful objects in the night sky.

2. Knitting matters, for knitting enthusiasts, takes place at the Bloomingdale Regional Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico, Mondays at 10 a.m.

3. The St. Stephen Career Transition Ministry offers career aptitude counseling and support for those who are out of work each Monday at 7 p.m. at St. Stephen Catholic School, 10424 St. Stephen Circle, Riverview.

4. Teen Music Monday takes place at the Bloomingdale Regional Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico, at 2:30. Teens in grades six to 12 are invited to bring their mp3 players and cords and download three free songs.

5. Bell Shoals Baptist Church hosts Celebrate Recovery Mondays from 6:45 to 9:30 p.m. at 2102 Bell Shoals Road, Brandon. Free child care is available for age 6 weeks to 12 years.
