5 Things to Know Today, Nov. 26: Small Business Saturday

Here's some things you might want to know as you go about your day.

1. Today is Small Business Saturday. Don't forget to support your small businesses by shopping local.

2. Riverview United Methodist Church, 8002 U.S. 301 S., Riverview, is offering a free movie night for the family, featuring inspirational movies in Crichton Fellowship Hall at 7 p.m. the fourth Saturday of the month. Snacks and beverages will be served at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited. Call 813-677-5995.

3. The Knights of Columbus St. Stephen Council No. 14084 are selling Christmas trees at St. Stephen Catholic School, 10424 St. Stephen Circle, Riverview, off Boyette Road, through Dec. 18. The tree lot will be open Friday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday through Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. Trees are from Dutchmen Christmas Tree Farms in northern Michigan. A variety of kinds and sizes will be available. Proceeds will benefit council charities. Call Greg Grambor at 813-966-7794.

4. New Horizons Group Homes, a nonprofit organization that runs group homes in Brandon for intellectually challenged adults, has unveiled its 17th historical Brandon keepsake ornament. This year's ornament depicts the Carey Cattle Co., run by Bill Carey starting in the 1950s on the site where Westfield Brandon is today. Brandon artist Lora Eisenberg designed the ornament just as she had in past years. The ornaments are available for $18 at New Horizons Group Homes and the following businesses: Age’s Art & Frame, Bill’s Prescription Center, Martin’s Jewelers, Rainbow Engraving and The Frame Shop & Gallery.

5. Drop by and make a custom gift basket for the holidays Saturday at 8 a.m. The staff at Leena's will walk you through picking out chocolates and coffee to create a custom gift basket for your friends, family, boss or your special customers. Leena's also has some premade baskets ready to go if you're in a hurry.
