5 Things to Know Today, May 3

Here's some things you might want to know as you go about your day.

1. It's going to be another hot one. Temperatures will be humid and will reach 89 degrees so lather on the sunscreen if you're going to be outside.

2. The Valrico/Brandon Christian Business Connections meets on Tuesdays from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Recipe Box at 147 E Bloomingdale Ave, Brandon, with the exception of May 10. That meeting has been moved to Wednesday, May 11 at 8 a.m.  

Christian Business Connections is a networking event with fellowship for Christian business people. Members share prayer and encouragement to enhance and build their relationships with the Lord as they interact with each other and the community.

3. A lunchtime English conversation class is offered Tuesdays at noon at the Bloomingdale Regional Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico.

4.Valrico Lake Advantage Academy, an A-rated math and science charter school currently located at 1653 Bloomingdale Ave., will host a parent information meeting May 3 at 7 p.m. It is now accepting applications for the 2011-12 school year for grades kindergarten through seven. 5. "Ornamental and Culinary Herbs" will be the topic of a plant clinic May 4 at  6:30 p.m. at the Bloomingdale Regional Public Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave. in Valrico

Learn from the gardening experts as master gardeners from the Hillsborough County Extension conduct plant clinics in public libraries throughout Hillsborough County. These plant clinics are free, open to the public, and registration is not necessary. Each plant clinic offers a presentation on a gardening topic, and an opportunity to have lawn, landscape or garden questions answered by a master gardener.
