5 Things to Know Today, May 24

Here's some things you might want to know as you go about your day.

1. Counselors of the Hillsborough County Small Business Information Center will be on hand at the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce, 330 Pauls Drive, Brandon, to present a workshop on "Smart Start Your Business" May 24 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and a workshop on "Business Protection 101" May 24 from noon to 2 p.m. To register, contact Jamie Reid at jreid@brandonchmber.com or call 813-689-1221, ext. 8843.

2. A parent information meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Palmetto Club, 17004 Dorman Road, Lithia, for parents interested in learning more about the new Primrose School of Bloomingdale that is opening this summer. This is an opportunity to meet the owners in person, ask questions, and learn more about the school, its Balanced Learning Curriculum, and its character development program and enrichment programs.

3. The Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly membership meeting luncheon Tuesday, May 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The lunch sponsor is Tampa Electric Co.  Byron Burrows, manager of air programs in Environmental Health & Safety, will be the guest speaker.  Lunch will be catered by Lupton's and the menu includes baked chicken, ribs, cole slaw, baked beans, tossed salad and garlic bread.  Come early and network. The luncheon will be held at the Riverview Civic Center, 11020 Park Drive, Riverview. The cost is $10 for members, $15 for guests. Call 813-234-5944.

4. The Valrico/South Brandon Christian Business Connections meets on Tuesdays from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Recipe Box at 147 E. Bloomingdale Ave, Brandon.

Christian Business Connections is a networking event with fellowship for Christian business people. Members share prayer and encouragement to enhance and build their relationships with the Lord as they interact with each other and the community.

5. Ask A Genealogist, advice on tracing your family's history, is offered Tuesdays at 4 p.m. at the Bloomingdale Regional Library. Call (813) 273-3652, Ext. 2.
