5 Things to Know Today, May 22

Here's some things you might want to know as you go about your day.

1. It's going to be mostly sunny with a high of 94 degrees in the Bloomingdale Patch area, according to Weather.com. It's the perfect day to lounge around the pool or, better yet, head to the beach.

2. Before you head to the beach, drop by the Spring Fest. The Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce will present its annual Spring Fest today from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Winthrop Barn Theatre and Pole Barn, 11349 Bloomingdale Ave., Riverview. The event will include food vendors, exhibits, a bounce house, bungee run, live music, games and face painting. Admission is free. Visit www.riverviewchamber.com or call 813-234-5944.

3. YMCA Camp Cristina, 9840 Balm-Riverview Road, Riverview, will host a Family Adventure Day today from 1 to 5 p.m. Families will enjoy archery, the zip line, the giant swing, the climbing wall, arts and crafts, healthy snacks and field games.

Camp Cristina is a 65-acre outdoor center offering sports, archery, bb guns, horseback riding, swimming, canoeing, environmental education and other activities.

4. Parents interested in learning more about the new Primrose School of Bloomingdale that is opening this summer are invited to an informational meeting today at , 3943 New River Hills Pkwy, Valrico, (Terrace Room) from 2 to 4 p.m. This is an opportunity to meet the owners in person, ask questions, and learn more about the school, its Balanced Learning Curriculum, and its character development program and enrichment programs.

5. The Emergency Care Help Organization will host a Baubles, Barbeque and Bubbles fundraiser Sunday, May 22, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Cross Creek Ranch, 12950 E. Wheeler Road, Dover.

  • Presented by Cross Creek Ranch and Hungry Harry's Barbeque, the $50 tickets include a full barbecue dinner, champagne or wine (two drink tickets), dessert and dancing. Attire is best denim and bling. 

    Guests will enjoy a night of western elegance, while helping a worthwhile organization and will have a chance to enter a raffle to win a piece of jewelry donated by Crown Facets Jewelry.
     
    This event is one of two signature events held each year by ECHO, a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization.
