Here's some things you might want to know as you go about your day.

1. We're feeling the effects of two cold fronts that pushed through the area, making it a cool 69 degrees in Bloomingdale Patch. With the lower humidity, it's expected to reach only 79 degrees today.

2. The Valrico/South Brandon Christian Business Connection is having its kickoff today at 8 a.m. at the Recipe Box, 147 Bloomingdale Ave., Brandon. All are invited. Rep. Rachel Burgin, R-Riverview, will lead the devotion.

3. "Secrets and Shortcuts of Master Gardeners" will be the topic of a plant clinic May 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Riverview Branch Library, 10509 Riverview Drive in Riverview.

Learn from the gardening experts as master gardeners from the Hillsborough County Cooperative Extension Service conduct plant clinics in public libraries throughout Hillsborough County. These plant clinics are free, open to the public, and registration is not necessary. Each plant clinic offers a presentation on a gardening topic, and an opportunity to have lawn, landscape or garden questions answered by a master gardener.

4. Menopause, Hormones, Health and Happiness will be the topic of a lecture on hormone replacement therapy presented by Dr. Ignacio Armas May 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Bloomingdale Regional Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico.

5. St. Stephen Catholic Church will host Theology on Tap at Beef O' Brady's, 9331 E. Adamo Drive, Tampa May 17 from 7 to 8:3o p.m. The speaker will be Tammy Modica, discussing the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary.
