5 Things to Know Today, May 12

Here's some things you might want to know as you go about your day.

1. The Kiwanis Club of Greater Brandon will host a bunco and barbecue event Thursday, May 12 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall of Brandon, 1810 Front St., Valrico.  Dine in or to-go barbecue meals will be available for $5. Bunco will be played from 7 to 9 p.n. A $20 ticket includes a meal, one raffle ticket, snacks and bunco, an eas- to-play dice game. There will be 50/50 raffles and prizes. In addition, there will be a cash bar. Proceeds will benefit the Greater Brandon Kiwanis Foundation and the Terrific Kids program in Brandon area schools.

2. The Money Source chapter of Business Networking International will meet Thursday, May 12 from 7:15 to 9 a.m. at River Hills Country Club, 3943 New River Hills Parkway, Valrico. The Money Source chapter meets weekly on Thursdays. It welcomes business professionals from the community to learn about generating referrals.

3. FishHawk SOS (Singles Over 60) meets Thursdays from noon to 3 p.m. at the Osprey Club in FishHawk Ranch. FishHawk SOS is a group for singles over 60. Members meet to play card games such as Uno, Spades, Mexican Train and Oh, Heck! Bridge tables also can be set up if requested. Those attending should bring a bagged lunch. Evening get-togethers may be planned if there is enough interest. 4. The Hillsborough County Twirlettes meet Thursday at 4 p.m. at Foundation Christian Academy on Lithia-Pinecrest Road. The baton and flag team perform at local events and parades.

5. St. Stephen Catholic Church hosts bingo the second and fourth Thursday of each month in the multipurpose room at the church, 5049 Bell Shoals Road, Valrico. It is open to the public and dinner is available.
