5 Things to Know Today, March 24

Here's some things you might want to know as you go about your day.

1. In honor of the St. Stephen Spring Jubilee's and St. Stephen Catholic School's 10th anniversaries, the church is hosting its second annual Jubilee Cycle Fest. 

The event will take place Sunday, April 3. There will be a 10-mile ride for novices departing at 8:30 a.m. and a 50-mile ride for advanced cyclists departing at 7:30 a.m. from Just Ride Bicycles, 13431 FishHawk Blvd., Lithia, in the River Springs Town Center just east of Bell Shoals Road. Both rides will benefit the LifeTeen ministry at St. Stephen Catholic Church. Helmets must be worn and cyclists must be 16 years old or older. Sign-ins and registration begins at 7 a.m.

2. Raffle tickets and ride armbands are now on sale for the 10th annual Spring Jubilee scheduled for March 31 to April 3 at St. Stephen Catholic School, 10428 St. Stephen Circle, Riverview. 

The Spring Jubilee will feature food, midway rides, entertainment and other activities. Tickets for the raffle are $5 each or five for $20. And participants have a chance to win a grand prize of $2,500, a 42-inch flat-screen TV or a limo ride with Kings Executive Limo & Car Service. There also will be a treasure chest with $1 to play and win an instant prize and a prize wheel with $1 to play and win an instant prize.

In addition, there will be hourly drawings throughout the event for prizes donated by local businesses and sponsors. 

3. The Valrico Advantage Academy will host its first Curriculum Fair March 24 at the school, 1653 Bloomingdale Ave, Valrico. Residents will have a chance to meet the principal, talk to faculty and learn about the programs available at Valrico Advantage Academy.

Parents will have the oportunity to view the curriculum, discuss academic expectations and learn more about the school's Math and Science Leadership Academy for grades six to eight.

4. The River Hills Women's Golf Association meets Thursdays at the River Hills Golf Club, 943 New River Hills Parkway, Valrico, The association offers fellowship through lunches, couples dinners and parties. Over the past 17 years, the WGA has grown to be an active group of both 9- and 18-hole players, however, women don't need to play golf to join. Regular play days are Thursday mornings from September through May. The association also hosts a Christmas party, a Valentine's Day event and special Sunday couples golf events in the spring and fall.

5. The Campo Family YMCA, 3414 Culbreath Road, Valrico, will host a belly dancing class for kids age 7 to 12 Thursdays from 7 to 8 p.m. This is a low-impact cardio workout that tones and conditions the body.
