5 Things to Know Today, March 23

Here's some things you might want to know as you go about your day.

1. It's not too late to register for the Freddy's Foundation 5K Walk for Recovery set for Saturday, March 26 along Bloomingdale Avenue.

The walk will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the northwest corner of Bloomingdale Avenue and Lithia-Pincrest Road, proceed up Bloomingdale to Bell Shoals Road, cross Bloomingdale and then head back in the opposite direction to Lithia-Pinecrest, a total of 3.1 miles.

The registration fee to join the walk is $25 and each participant will receive a T-shirt, water, granola bar and lanyard with a button declaring “I finished.”

The first- and last-place finishers also will receive gift cards to Synergy Salon and Spa, Seville Cleaners and Hit the Trails. Other sponsors for the walk include Lifestyle Family Fitness, New Image General Dentistry, Wal-Mart, Huntington Learning Center, Inna’s Alterations, Raccoon’s Restaurant and Lounge, Frames by Jo, One Ho Chinese restaurant and Orange Home Accessories.

2. Children are invited to Center Place for a fun musical program in the Make Believe Theatre with musician Katie Adams. Youngsters will enjoy fun sing-a-long songs aboult old American fables such as Paul Bunyan, Jack and the Bean Stalk and more.

4. The Patrick Patriots host baton-twirling classes at the Brandon Community Center, 502 E. Sadie St. Brandon, weekly starting with a beginners' class at 3:30 p.m., an intermediate class at 4:30 p.m. and an advanced class at 5:30 p.m. Competition group and solo classes also are offered. Students participate in contests, parades and civic events.

5. Baby Times takes place Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. at the Bloomingdale Regional Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico.
