5 Things to Know Today, March 21

Here's some things you might want to know as you go about your day.

1. Do you have a young chef in your family? Children ages 4 to 6 years of age are invited to the Young Chef's Academy, 1576 Bloomingdale Ave,, Valrico, for a fairy tale cooking class from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Today's theme, "Billy Goats Eat Oats," is a twist on the popular children's story, "The Billy Goat's Gruff." Don't worry, there aren't any scary trolls attending!.

Each participant will learn to create light snacks using healthy oats, and take home recipes to share with their family.

2. Knitting matters, for knitting enthusiasts, takes place at the Bloomingdale Regional Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico, Mondays at 10 a.m.

3. Bloomingdale artist Doreen Donovan will host a Jump Start for Art Mondays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for children ages 5 to 9. Students will learn to view their surroundings in a different way through an artistic imagination.  The price per month is $30 for members and $40 for nonmembers on months with three weeks and $40 for members, $50 for nonmembers on months with four weeks. All supplies are included.

4. The Campo Family YMCA, 3414 Culbreath Road, Valrico, hosts a Youth Forum each Monday and Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Y. Kids are invited to speak individually or in groups about appropriate issues regarding what's happening in their schools, neighborhoods, etc... 5. All artists are invited to attend the Brandon League of Fine Arts, which meets tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Center Place, 619 Vonderburg Drive, Brandon.
