5 Things to Know Today, March 13

Here's some things you might want to know as you go about your day.

1. Make sure your clocks are move forward one hour for Daylight Savings Time.

2. Center Place will host the fifth annual Chalk Walk March 13 from 2 to 4 p.m. on the sidewalks around Center Place. This event is free for children 3 and up but space is limited to 150 children. For information, call 813-685-8888 or visit www.centerplacebrandon.org.

3. Experience an early St. Patrick's Day celebration. Visit O'Brien's Irish Pub & Grill at 701 W. Lumsden Road, Brandon, Sunday when O'Brien's hosts the fifth annual St. Puppy's Day Dog Show and Parade at 4 p.m. There will be prizes for best male, best female, best dressed, cutest, funniest, best kid's dog and best-dressed owner. 4. If you love wine, you'll want to check out Park Square Cellar's sixth annual Spring Wine Fest. The free event gives wine lovers an opportunity to taste 100 different wines as well as enjoy some light appetizers. Residents attending the event will get 15 percent off six bottles of wine or more. The event takes place at Park Square Cellar, 16132 Churchview Drive, Lithia, Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

5. Beware of more construction on the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway coming into the Brandon/Bloomingdale area.

Two lanes will be closed on southbound Interstate 75 between State Road 60
(Exit 257) and Progress Boulevard  (south of U.S. 301, Exit 254) from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. March 14-16 and March 18 nights.  During the same nights, one of
two lanes may also be closed on the southbound U.S. 301 ramp onto southbound I-75 or the eastbound Selmon Expressway (SR 618) ramp onto southbound I-75.

The northbound U.S. 301 entrance ramp onto northbound I-75 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday (March 14 - 18) nights. Traffic will continue north on northbound U.S. 301, then will make a u-turn at the signalized intersection at Crescent Park Drive to go south on U.S. 301 and use the southbound U.S. 301 entrance ramp to northbound I-75.

One of two lanes will be closed on the northbound I-75 Exit 256 ramp to the Selmon Expressway (SR 618) from 9 p.m. Thursday (March 17) to 6 a.m. Friday (March 18).
