5 Things to Know today, June 7

Movies, classes and social events are on tap for today.

1. The next event for Barbara Schwabe's campaign for honorary mayor of Brandon takes place this evening. Schwabe will host Barbie's Movie Night at the AMC Theatres Regency 20, 2496 W. Brandon Blvd., Brandon, Tuesday, June 7 at 7 p.m. Ladies will enjoy a pre-movie social time, a pink champagne fountain, dinner, dessert, popcorn, soda, a 50/50 raffle and a movie for $20. Tickets are available at Center Place, 619 Vonderburg Drive, Brandon.

2. It's graduation day for Bloomingdale High School seniors. The students will receive their diplomas at 4:30 p.m. at the Florida State Fairgrounds, led by valedictorian Steven Whitaker and salutatorian Taylor McDade.

3. Are you interested in learning how to use that digital camera you got last Christmas. The Bloomingdale Regional Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico, will host a Beginning Digital Photography class Tuesday, June 7 at 6 p.m. Learn how to use a digital camera and take quality pictures with professional photographer Ronald Slaton. 
 
4. Residential evictions will be the topic of a free seminar Tuesday, June 7 at 7 p.m. at the Brandon Regional Library, 619 Vonderburg Drive in Brandon. In this presentation by the Brandon Bar Association, rental property owners will gain a basic understanding of the steps to follow when trying to evict a tenant, and tenants will learn their rights regarding eviction. A question- and-answer session will follow the presentation.

5. The new South Shore Young Professional Association (SSYPA) is hosting an evening social event on Tuesday, June 7,  from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Luna's Mexican Restaurant 5924 Providence Road, Riverview.
