5 Things to Know Today, June 3

1. "Jekyll & Hyde" will be presented June 3-5  at The Regent, 6437 Watson Road. The Florida Academy of Performing Arts, through special arrangements with Music Theatre International, will present "Jekyll & Hyde," the tale of the classic battle between good and evil. Under the direction of Miguel Oquendo, the Showcase Players, a beginning musical theatre class for teens ages 13 and up, will present 10 performances on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 3-5 and June 10-12. Performance times are Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.  Tickets are $10 general admission and $8 for students, seniors and military.

2.The Florida Academy of Performing Arts also will present "Once On This Island," the theatrical adaptation of the fairytale, "The Little Mermaid," at Music Showcase, 402 Oakfield Drive, Brandon, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children.  3. Here's an event just for the guys. Honorary mayor of Brandon candidate Barbara Schwabe will host a Men's Club Sip and Puff event at Center Place starting at 6 p.m. tonight. Gentlemen are invited to an evening of cigars, scotch and bourbon plus food. There will be a silent auction featuring hunting, fishing, golf and sports items. The cost is $25.

4. Derrick Jive and the Funky Five will perform at Park Square Cellar tonight from 8 p.m. to midnight. Come out and enjoy some pop, rock and funky jazz at 16132 Churchview Drive, Lithia.

5. Soul Circus Cowboys performs during Country Night at the Green Iguana, 6264 Winthrop Town Centre Ave. tonight. The evening also features drink specials including Bud and Bud Light for $2.25 and Absolut, Jim Beam and Soco and lime for $3.
