5 Things to Know Today, June 20
Summer camps and a benefit for a mom in need are on tap for today.
1. Do you constantly complain that your teen has no concept of money? Here's a camp that may help.
Hillsborough County Extension, in partnership with United Way of Tampa Bay, is offering a Money Adventures Camp for teens age 13 to 16 years old. The camp will feature hands-on learning activities dealing with credit, banking, car buying, and job searches and interviewing. The camp will also include fun afternoon field trips to go bowling, visit MOSI/IMAX and play miniature golf.
The Money Adventures Camp will take place June 20-24 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hillsborough County Extension Office, 5339 County Road 579, Seffner, 33584. Regular registration is $30. The registration fee covers all field trips and lunches.

2. Youngsters are invited on a Big Apple Adventure this week.
FishHawk Fellowship Church, 15326 FishHawk Blvd., Lithia, will host Vacation Bible School June 20-24 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. with a family night taking place June 24 at 6:30 p.m. Children in kindergarten through fifth grade will go on a Big Apple Adventure. 3. The Academy of Dance Dynamics will present summer dance camps starting June 20 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the dance center, 4383 Lynx Paw Trail, Valrico. The camps will meet Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. Afternoon camps also will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Students will learn musicals to be performed at local day-care centers and retirement homes. Tuition is $100 per week. 4. Tadpoles, 115 E. Brandon Blvd., Brandon, will host a fundraiser for Jennifer Remington June 20 from 5 to 10 p.m. Remington, 37, is the Seffner mom who dived into a lake and broke her neck in two places. She, now in a wheelchair, is now fighting to regain movement. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help Remington and her family move to Colorado where she has been accepted into a rehabilitative program. Call 813-662-3764.
5. Bloomingdale High School head basketball coach Joe Willis will offer the Bulls Basketball Camp for boys and girls of all skills levels. The camp will be held in two one-week sessions. Session I will be June 20-23 and Session II will be June 27-30. The cost of each session is $75. Campers will receive a Nike camp T-shirt. The focus of the camp will be on fundamentals, sportsmanship and fun. For information, call Willis at 813-298-3448.
