5 Things to Know Today, July 29

Here's some things you might want to know as you go about your day.

1. In case you missed last night's So You Think You Can Dance? on the Fox Television Network, Riverview resident Ricky Jaime survived another round, thanks to votes from his fans. The finale of the show is in two weeks.

2. It will be a hot weekend with plenty of sunshine. Weather.com says temperatures should reach around 96 both Saturday and Sunday. There's only a 30 percent chance of rain so outdoor weekend plans should be safe.

3. It's the last Friday of the month. That means there will be guitar playing, banjo playing and singing at The Farm USA, 7818 Lithia-Pinecrest Road, Lithia. Held in a large horse barn, residents are invited to bring their guitars, banjos, fiddles or other acoustic instruments and join the fun with other musicians. Nashville recording artists have been known to drop in from time to time. This month's event will be webcast live starting at 7 p.m. Enjoy hamburgers, hotdogs and beverage at 6:30 p.m. The event is free but donations are accepted.

4. The Park Square Friday night concert series continues at FishHawk Ranch this Friday at 7 p.m. with entertainment by The Go Daddies, a current rock and dance band. Featuring three-part harmonies, the Go Daddies play current tunes with just the right amount of classics thrown in. This event is free but residents are asked to bring a donation of a canned food for Feeding America Tampa Bay.

5. The Channel Z Band will perform tonight at 8:30 p.m. at Upstairs, 16144 Churchview Drive, Lithia. The Channel Z Band has been in existence since 1997 and is a five-piece band based in Tampa with a current member complement that has been in force for nearly eight years.
