5 Things to Know Today, July 14

Here's some things you might want to know today.

1. It will reach 91 degrees today but, with the heat index, it will feel as if it's over 100 degrees, according to weather.com. There's a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms as well.

2. The Science of Sound and Music will be featured at the Bloomingdale Regional Public Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico, Thursday, July 14 at 2 p.m. World traveler and science performer Marcey Walsh uses whoopee cushions, tuning forks, slinkies, water balloons and musical instruments from all over the world to explore the science of sound and music in this free program funded by the Friends of the Bloomingdale Regional Library. 3. Tiny Dancers, for children age 2, meets Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. and from 2:15 to 3 p.m. at the Campo Family YMCA, 3414 Culbreath Road, Valrico. A Level 2 class meets Wednesdays from 1:45 to 2:30 p.m. The cost is $30 for facility members, $45 for program members. Call 813-684-1371.

4. FishHawk SOS (Singles Over 60) meets Thursdays from noon to 3 p.m. at the Osprey Club. FishHawk SOS is a group for singles over 60. They meet to play card games such as Uno, Spades, Mexican Train and Oh, Heck! Bridge tables also can be set up if requested. Those attending should bring a bagged lunch. 5. The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce Leads Group meets at noon Thursdays at Barnacles Restaurant, 926 Providence Road, Brandon.
