5 Things to Know Today, Dec. 8: Winter Concert at Bloomingdale
Here's some things you might want to know as you go about your day.
1. A reception for Valrico artist Diamari Christensen will take place at 5:30 p.m. at Center Place, 619 Vonderburg Dr., Brandon. Christensen's artwork will be on display in the Mook Gallery at Center Place through Dec. 21. Gallery hourse are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
2. While you're at Center Place, be sure to stop by the Pat's Gift Shop to do some Christmas shopping. There will be a holiday open house from 4:30 to 8 p.m. with a 25 percent discount on all items. It's a great place to shop for Christmas gifts.
3. Smooth Action Firearms, 833 W. Bloomingdale Ave., Brandon, in the Big Lots plaza, is hosting a Toys for Tots Drive for the United State Marine Corps. Unwrapped toys may be dropped off at the store through Dec. 18. Hours are 1 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

4. The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce, along with the Leadership Brandon Alumni, will host a Lunch with Leaders featuring former Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio Thursday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Tampa/Brandon, 10220 Palm River Rd., Tampa. The cost is $18 for members, $23 for nonmembers. Call Crystal Colegrove at 813-689-1221, ext. 8824 for reservations.
5. Get into the spirit of the season at Bloomingdale High School, 1700 E. Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico.

The Bloomingdale Marching Band will host its Winter Concert Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium.
The Bloomingdale Orchestra will perform Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. and the Bloomingdale Chorus performs Dec. 13 at 7 p.m.
