5 Things to Know Today, Aug. 18

Here's some things you might want to know as you go about your day.

1. The Brandon Juvenile Diabetes Support Group meets at 6 p.m. Thursdays at Oakfield Medical Plaza, 119 Oakfield Drive, Classroom B, Suite 260, Brandon. Contact Debbie or Chris Roberts at (813) 571-5112..

2. The Man to Man Support Group, for men fighting prostate cancer, meets the third Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Brandon Regional Hospital H2U Classroom, 228 S. Moon Ave., Brandon. Dan Biser of the American Cancer Society leads the group.

3. The Brandon Chapter of the New World Celts meets the third Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at O'Brien's Irish Pub, 701 W. Lumsden Road, Brandon. 4. A free adult computer class takes place Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. at the Bloomingdale Regional Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico. Registration in person is required no earlier than an hour before the program.

5. Fit Kids is offered Thursday from 6 to 6:30 p.m. at the Campo Family YMCA, 3414 Culbreath Road, Valrico. The sessions include all components of physical fitness and incorporate hula hoops and jump ropes set tomusic to get kids' hearts racing. The program is designed for kids age 7 to 12.
