5 Things to Know Today, Aug. 11

1. The Bay Area Twirlers will offer a square dancing class Thurdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Brandon Community Center, 502 E. Sadie St., Brandon.

2. Tree of Light Metaphysical Awareness and Worship Center, 209 Elrod Drive, Brandon, presents a free class on alternative and spiritual healing at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays. Call 813-689-1751.

3. Alcoholics Anonymous meets Monday through Thursday at noon in Room 3 at St. Stephen Catholic, 5049 Bell Shoals Road, Valrico.

4. I Am Hope Cafe at First Baptist Church of Mango, 11619 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Seffner, serves dinner to the homeless on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays from 6 to 7 p.m. Breakfast is served at the cafe from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays. To volunteer, call Vince Ferraro, 813-689-7153.

5. FishHawk SOS (Singles Over 60) meets Thursdays from noon to 3 p.m. at the Osprey Club. FishHawk SOS meets to play card games such as Uno, Spades, Mexican Train and Oh, Heck! Bridge tables also can be set up if requested. Those attending should bring a bagged lunch. Evening get-togethers may be planned if there is enough interest.
