5 Things to Know Today, April 26

Here's some things you might want to know as you go about your day.

1. Youngsters can learn the all about baby-sitting during a course at the Family Support & Resource Center today.

The Family Support & Resource Center, 1277 Kingsway Road, Brandon, will offer a safe sitter class Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students will learn how to handle behavior problems, rescue a choking infant or older child, and keep themselves and their charges safe. Students must be 11 years old to participate and bring a lunch to class. Registration is required. Call 813-740-4634.

2. The Bridges retirement community is partnering with the American Association of Wartime Veterans to offer a free seminar on a federal benefit to help offset the cost of living in a retirement community for a wartime veteran or surviving spouse.

The seminar will take place April 26 at 6 p.m.

Any member of the armed services who served at least 90 days during a war is eligible for a $1,644 or more reimbursement for assisted on independent living expenses.

 3. The Brandon Senior Softball League is looking for men and women age 60 and older. The league plays noncompetitive games at 9 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Sydney-Dover Park, 1200 Sydney-Dover Road, Dover. Call 813-326-0432.

4. Mothers of Preschoolers meets every first and third Tuesday of the month for fellowship, to discuss parenting issues and participate in activities at FishHawk Fellowship, 15326 FishHawk Blvd., Lithia. Every second and fourth Tuesday, the group meets for a Bible study. Child care is available. Call 813- 655-7431.

5.  The Campo Family YMCA hosts a Family Body Flow Class Tuesdays from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. The class combines yoga, Pilates and tai chi to provide a working that builds flexibility and strength and leaves you feeling centered and calm.
