5 Things to Know Today

Here's some things you might want to know as you go about your day.

Good morning, Bloomingdale Patch. It's a brisk 50 degrees outside so you might want to grab a jacket this morning. But you can shed it later today because it's forecast to get up to 78 degrees. Spring is just around the corner.

1. If you're a graduate of the Leadership Brandon program of the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce, you're invited to a networking social Feb. 18 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill, 136 Brandon Town Center Drive, Brandon. There will be light hors d'oeuvres, happy hour beverage specials and a chance to socialize with alumni members. All Leadership Brandon graduates and a guest are encouraged to attend.

2. Here's an event for the entire family. The Bloomingdale Regional Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico, will host Family Game Time Saturday, Feb. 19 at 1 p.m. Enjoy video and board games with friends and family. All experience levels are welcome.

3. The 20th annual Wild Dame Night, A Special Evening for Ladies Only, will take place Saturday, Feb. 19 at Center Place, 619 Vonderburg Drive. The fun begins at 6 p.m. with social time, wine, a catered dinner and the "Decadent Desserts" that have become the trademark and tradition of Wild Dame Night. This year's entertainment features "School House Rock" by Stages Productions. Tickets are $50 per person and are available at Center Place. This event always sells out early, so those wanting to attend are encouraged to purchase tickets as soon as possible. Tickets cannot be reserved. Visa, Mastercard and Discover are accepted.

4. If you're doing some spring cleaning this weekend, you might consider donating your unwanted items to the Alafia Elementary PTA. The PTA is hosting its first rummage sale and craft show Saturday, Feb. 26 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school, 3535 Culbreath Road, Valrico. This is a great chance to do your spring cleaning and get rid of all those clothes that don't fit anymore, garage and attic clutter and more. If you no longer need it, the PTA will take it! To donate items, contact Angela Weir at (813) 924-0677 or cleavis20@yahoo.com.
