1. The , 619 Vonderburg Drive, Brandon, is having a free art exhibit of Anne Drewry's work throughout the day today. Layering and lifting are Drewry's favorite approaches to painting. Adding collage elements, stamping, embossing and photo transfers also create some of the interesting effects seen in this exhibit.
2. On this day in 1895, German scientist Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen accidentally discovered x-rays in his Wurzburg lab.
3. , 161 E Bloomingdale Ave, Brandon, will host a Mommy and Me Class for moms and children who turn age 2 by Sept. 1 Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. and 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. The children are introduced to listening, memorization, music and coordination. The cost is $55.
