Art Events for Everyone

there are always cultural events to attend in the greater Brandon area. Stay tuned here for details monthly.

Did you know there are health benefits to participating in cultural events and creative activities?

Doing so relieves stress and lessens depression while giving you satisfaction with your life! So enjoy the arts regularly! Aug. 6th at Center Place there will be an indoor Artfest presented by the Brandon League of Fine Arts and co-sponsored by Center Place.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature up to 30 artists with a wide variety of artwork for sale. A face painter will be there for the kids, and a box lunch will be available for the reasonable fee of $3.50. This could be just the time to get an early start on your holiday shopping - cards, jewelry, paintings and more will be available for you to buy.

We hope to see you there to enjoy the arts and to relieve the summer doldrums!

On Sept. 9th and 10th, there will be the fourth annual Gallery Hop (Bring Art Alive, Find the Hidden Treasures of Brandon) in the Brandon area sponsored by the above two organizations and the Greater Brandon Arts Council.

You can visit any or all of the 12 venues and enjoy demos, hands-on activities and light refreshments at each place.

A highlight of the event is the drawing for gift baskets prepared by each venue.

This takes place at a reception, Saturday Sept. 10th, at Center Place between 5 and 7 p.m. To be eligible for a drawing, you must visit five venues and get your free ticket stamped at each one. At the reception there will also be the presentation of awards for the BLFA Artworks exhibition. (see the BLFA website for more info on Artfest and Artworks - www.blfa.us).

So, there are always opportunities to participate in creative events in our community. Join us at both of these events and feel wonderfully inspired by the artists in the Greater Brandon area. Who knows? You might even feel healthier!!
