Bloomingdale Big Box Protesters Stay Focused

  • From Bloomingdale Big Box —  CANDO Update: Our Steering committee is moving forward with action plans. We are currently working on a community meeting date for September and watching for the filing of the final plans for the Big Box this month. We have met with legal counsel and an expert in land zoning. Contrary to those who have said it is too late and [it] is a done deal, we have found a strategy that needs to be pursued. We will be reaching out to folks who have indicated an interest in working with the steering committee. Anyone else with an interest can email us at BloomingdaleBigBox@gmail.com. Watch for an update in the next week as we work to solidify a location local for our next open public meeting,  coming in September."

Fitness Tip: Up The Intensity

  • From Snap Fitness FishHawk / Lithia —  [Noted, from Dr. Andra Campitelli] - "Are you working out in the 'low heart rate fat-burning zone?'  Try upping the intensity a bit. Although lower heart rates are intended to target fat and accelerate fat loss, when it comes to weight loss, calories burned are still the best way to see those pounds drop off. Higher intensity exercise, especially high intensity interval training, where you get that heart rate up, is still the best method for weight loss. This burns more calories and will also increase muscle mass."

In The News: 'Adverse Possession' of Riverview Home

  • From Bay News 9 — "The wife of a Manatee County sheriff's deputy has been accused of moving her family into a Riverview house without the owner's permission." According to the news report, "Florida law allows people to ask a judge to declare abandoned property theirs if they fix it up and occupy it for seven years while paying the taxes. But that doesn't make it legal to move into the home." The wife reportedly had filed an adverse possession form with the Hillsborough Property Appraiser's Office.
