American Legion Alafia Post 148, 7240 U.S. 301, Riverview, meets the second Monday of the month at 7 p.m. Veterans are encouraged to contact the post to determine eligibility. A service officer is available to assist with filing veterans' claims. American Legion is a nationwide organization that works to support veterans and community programs. This local branch, Post 148, is situated just north of the Aliafia River. It sponsors community services and sports teams and hosts weekly activities, including bingo games, a flea market, live entrainment and steak shoots on Saturdays. The branch also offers hall rentals for parties, social events and celebrations. Rentals include a full bar and a stage for a band or DJ.
