Wish List for Winthrop as Construction Heats Up
Motorists traveling Bloomingdale Avenue between Watson and Providence roads can't help but notice the construction under way west of the Winthrop Events Centre and just east of Regions Bank. What's coming, and what would you like to see open?
What's going on at Winthrop?
Ground is breaking on the tract of land that is designated for retail in the neotraditional community founded by Valrico residents John and Kay Sullivan.
It's the area west of the Winthrop Events Centre — which features the Barn Theatre at Winthrop and the Winthrop Pole Barn — and just east of Regions Bank.
It's already been reported that The Egg & I will open to serve breakfast and lunch at the Winthrop Town Centre. Also, a full-service Italian restaurant is sought for the area, according to the report.
What restaurant would you like to see there?
What other retail offerings would you like to have open at Winthrop?

I wish they would put Trader Joe's, Whole Foods or Fresh Market where the old Borders is at. That's a good location.

How about some local businesses? Isn't it time that we support local businesses that spend their profits in the area, not send it to headquarters out of the state.

It seems that alot of the little local businesses that have been there have failed. And I do hope it keeps that "Winthrop Village" feel....that's what it's supposed to be about! How about a nice tapas bar? Those are nice...tables outside, a glass of wine, etc..
