Teen Killed in Traffic Crash; South Kings Ave. Shut Down

A Ford Explorer carrying seven people overturned at South Kings and Coppertree Circle in Brandon, and one teen was ejected and died at the scene, officials said.

 

A teenager is dead following a traffic crash that shut down Kings Avenue south of Bloomingdale Avenue on Friday afternoon, authorities said.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused the accident at South Kings and Coppertree Circle in Brandon, where a Ford Explorer carrying seven people left the roadway and overturned around 2:50 p.m. Friday.

The teen was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, while the other passengers received only minor injuries, sheriff's office spokesperson Larry McKinnon said.

South Kings Avenue was closed south of Bloomingdale for several hours as the investigation continued.
