Tampa Obama Rally Traffic, Parking Information

Some roads and parking garages will close to the public during President Barack Obama’s Tampa rally Oct. 25.

Whether you’re heading into Ybor City tomorrow morning to hear President Barack Obama speak or you need to be down that way on business, there’s some news you need to know.

The city of Tampa has announced that traffic congestion is anticipated from about 6:30 a.m. until noon – at least – throughout Ybor on Thursday, Oct. 25, as the President makes his way to town on his “America Forward!” tour.

The rally takes place at 1800 E. 8th Ave. in Centennial Park. Security gates open to ticketholders at 7 a.m., and the president is expected to speak around 9 a.m.

City officials, according to a media release, anticipate the heaviest congestion in the area between 15th and 21st Streets from north of Seventh Avenue to south of Palm Avenue. Both Palm and Seventh avenues will remain open throughout the event.

Obama Rally Street Closings

The following streets will be closed to traffic starting at 4 a.m. Oct. 25:

  • Ninth Avenue between 17th Street and 19th Street
  • Angel Oliva Sr. (18th) Street from Palm Avenue to Seventh Avenue
  • 19th Street from Palm Avenue to Seventh Avenue
  • Eighth Avenue between 17th Street and 20th Street

Streets should reopen by 10:30 a.m.

Parking Lot and Garage Information

The following parking lots will be closed during the event:

  • City Parking Lot No. 5, between Angel Oliva Street and 19th Street
  • City Parking Lot No. 6, between 19th and 20th Street

Both lots will be closed for use until noon.

The following garages will be open for public use during the rally:

  • Centro Ybor Parking Garage
  • Fernando Noriega Parking Garage

Park and Ride

The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority will not be offering special park-and-ride services strictly for the rally, according to Marcia Mejia, HART’s spokeswoman.

Maybe if Romney could stop senting jobs to China, that would help America. Romney do not care about America, he has his money in banks overseas, he closed down many manufactures jobs, made millions and send the jobs overseas, I do not see why anyone would want to vote for someone like him. If you think Romney care anything about you, wait and see, I hope you are rich, cause if you are middle class, sorry for us.

Rick Scott promised to get us back to work as well. Then he declined billions of federal dollars.
Just like the Congress voted in '10.The one that promised jobs, jobs, jobs. They did nothing but attack women's rights.Good luck with more of that Dave.

Riiiiight... Romney outsourced jobs to China when he ran Bain Capital. He even has investments in Chinese companies. Now you think he'll magically be for the American worker? What dreamworld do YOU live in? Romney will destroy the American middle class. It will be like the Bush administration all over again...on steroids.

Part of that problem is Rick Scott Dave. Also the party of "no" the GOP Congress who is "Partisan" instead of voting for the people. I have seen this scenario is the past too with my GOP friends!WE have to hold these people "Right or Left" accountable!

Can't wait to VOTE ROMNEY on Saturday! President Obama is incompetent and untrustworthy for serving up the youtube video spontaneous protest lie to the USA to hide the truth it was terrorists that assassinated the USA Ambassador Stevens and Sean Smith and burned the Benghazi US consulate. The Obama administration have not discussed why President Obama did not dispatch immediate military relief and/or evacuation of US citizens trapped in the Benghazi CIA annex which was only 1 mile from the destroyed US consulate and was within 1 hour reach of USAF facilities in Italy or Spain before or even during the second terrorist attack which occurred 4 HOURS LATER with 2 more US citizens murdered by terrorists.

And ROMNEY jumped on the event for political gain before any of the facts were known showing no respect for the Country, the victims, or the office of President! That is who you want to decide when and if your child goes to fight a war? I would not even want him on my pee-wee football team. Hummmm. Remember...ACT first and ask questions later must be a Romney mantra. Open mouth first and insert foot then backpedal out of disgrace .... a very similar trait we all want in a Commander in Chief.

If you're voting for the mormon, you're diluted. The mormon is just as dangerous to the US as Osama was. Say no to the mormon by voting Obama
2012.

Can't vote for someone who changes his position on the issues so frequently. Romney said one thing during the primaries and now he's playing moderate just to get the vote. All politicians are liars but Romney is betting on us to all just forget the things he said. He admittedly refuses to tell us what his spending cuts will be. I'm afraid he is going to end up hurting the middle class. The policy ideas he does tell us about just don't add up.

Having worked for GM, I can tell you that's an out and out lie. Most GM cars are made in the US, Canada, and Mexico.

All this Romney bashing ..he proved he is great with business.. Obama proved he lied about bringing down the deficit and he is a horrible president. Most of his supporters are voting for him for one reason only he is black

THat is not true Lance! Please don't be racist! He had a deficit when he took office after a horrid 8 years with Pres. Bush. Before Bush took office we had a surplus that was left by Pres. Clinton. Bush took care of the upper 2% wealthy! Do you really want that? WE had a horrible Congress that blocked progress from the Obama Administration.Lance, as far as race, and I am caucasian... please don't be racist! That simply is not called for and not true!

Weak....very weak. Offensive suggestion to boot. But, not to worry...Obama has met the many challenges and in perspective held our country together during one of the most challenging times in our country's entire history. Can you really place that trust in Romney? So you are saying that if Romney were black (African American) and Obama white, most of his (Obama's) supporters would vote for Romney? Interesting theory.

I think the root of Abama's problems not getting to his call be it economy and education is the GOP Congress that voted "no" after every proposal. Obama is competent but chose an inept Cabinet with exception of Biden and Hillary. Thiose are the roadblocks Obama faced and faces unless we vote Democrat for Conress to even out a bit.The situation in this election should be to vote for what is best for the American people and feel that Romney will hurt the Middle Class. Let's not forget that when Bush took office in 2ooo' we had a surplus under Clinton, When Obama was elected in 08', he was left with a mess we are still cleaning up. The GOP "no" Congress is to blame as they blocked practically everything that was put on the table. I wish I had better news for my "Right Wing" friends but you have to look at the facts. Some of what Romney has said in the debates have been distorted lies, and don't want that kind of a person in office like we have Rick Scott who has crippled Florida by not taking stimulus money. Both Scott and Romney talk on both sides of their mouths and on issues "flip flopped" like a fish. You can't deny that.
The best thing we can do as Floridians is to hold Congress accountable as well as this Gov. we have. Rumor has it Charlie Crist may run again. I am in back of him 100% and he may not be a Democrat. I vote the man not the party like a lot of Republicans. This election is about saving the people of the US.

47% of us will remember every word out of Romney's mouth. You can't lead anything if you can't identify or relate to the real world. The same problems that brought about the economic problems of today were the root of what made Romney a "great" capitalist. Bailing out detroit and our banks along with reforms saved our country from an even greater disaster. Those 2 things we know Romney would not have done, Can you imagine? It is easy to talk tough when you don't have to see the impact of your decisions long term. And now Romney wants to make me believe and trust him to be a dove 2 weeks before the election? Really? So whats the 2 billion in defense for anyway? More bayonets and horses?

Want a Better Economy? History Says Vote Democrat!

Personal disposable income has grown nearly 6 times more under Democratic presidents

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has grown 7 times more under Democratic presidents

Corporate profits have grown over 16% more per year under Democratic presidents (they actually declined under Republicans by an average of 4.53%/year)

Average annual compound return on the stock market has been 18 times greater under Democratic presidents (If you invested $100k for 40 years of Republican administrations you had $126k at the end, if you invested $100k for 40 years of Democrat administrations you had $3.9M at the end)

Republican presidents added 2.5 times more to the national debt than Democratic presidents

The two times the economy steered into the ditch (Great Depression and Great Recession) were during Republican, laissez faire administrations
