Sheriff David Gee issued a letter to the public earlier this week outlining his office's plan for the Republican National Convention and to assure citizens county wide that officers will be working service calls.

Read more about the long hours deputies will be working during the RNC on Carrollwood Patch

The letter clearly discusses the plan for RNC-related arrests, tactical strategies for his officers and staffing throughout the event. Thousands of law enforcement officials will flood downtown Tampa along with the delegates and politicians attending the event, prompting Gee to write the letter.

"To the agitators and anarchists who want only to bring a dark cloud to this event, let me be clear: criminal activity and civil disturbances will not be tolerated and enforcement actions will be swift.," Gee said in the letter.

Deputies and officers will be on horseback, on foot or riding bicycles and motorcycles. Many also will be dressed in specially designed uniforms and riot gear. The sheriff's office and Tampa police are preparing for what is coming their way during the convention Aug. 27-30.

We want to know what you think. Are Tampa's law enforcement agencies prepared to provide the right level of security for the RNC?

So is that the picture they sent along with the letter? The wording and picture seem very agressive. Who is in charge of determining 'Agitators and anarchists' from law abiding citizens exercizing their rights to demonstrate? If your only tool is a hammer all your problems look like nails, or 'Welcome to Tampa- we got enough stick to go around'.

I think that the police are showing how much of gestopo's they can be and are. I know that there are a minimal amount of people who would like to excercise the Constitutional Right to "peacefuuly" demostrate and voice their concerns without police agitation. This is not IRAQ so stand down and let america be america not gestopo USA.

I know they would love to fill the jails (at $45 a head - cost to taxpayers) and employee alot of cops so they can fill their budget gaps with the bill they can send to the RNC or the taxpayer. ... and fill the court rooms to give job security to elected judges, probation officers, pre trial (another big business) I myself hope the ACLU is out in full force and so are alot of video cameras.......un-impeachable evidence..

People really need to educate themselves on the real world. Protests and anarchists are two different things. Anarchists use violence like children who dont know how to control their emotions. Go to anarchyRNC 2012. After watching it you will feel like we are in Iraq with a bunch of terrorist

Hello Federal Reporter/anarchist let me educate you just like a person signs up for the military to be a soldier and then are asked to do things they dont necessarily believe in so do the police. If you ask them do they believe in the marijuana laws or a speed limit sign the answer is No, however their job is to enforce someone else's law. They arent at the RNC to stop protesters they are there to assure that protestors and the public stay safe. They are there for the protesting extremist. Dont hurt them or wish hurt upon them just like you they are fathers, daughters, sons, ect. Most who dont even believe or care one way or the other. If they didnt have all these police officers on hand and all this mayhem breaks out you would be the first to place blame on the city for not doing their job to protect. Fires break out, looting ect. Thats what they are there for and why we need so many.

Concerned.......I think you need to re-evaluate your comments or have contact with gestopo police to change your view. I am a federal contractor and I can but won't share with you the abuse of police powers. I'll let a brain stormer like you mfind out for yourself one day. I never fault good cops doing their jobs. I fault excessive force, abuse of power or gestopo tactics. This is the United States and our citizens are losing their constitutional rights because we have so called concerned citizens like yourself who have NO clue about the errosion of those rights by the government and their police. So before you try and educate me..get a real education yourself instaed of name calling. Because without a doubt in my mind you are totally brain dead.

@Federal Reporter - Don't know (or care) what you were charged with, but you might check out youtube on "legs' rights"... start getting argumentative, or name-calling, and for sure you'll get a pile of dung dumped on you. My guess is, YOU DON'T KNOW YOUR RIGHTS and HOW TO APPLY THEM.

Yes I've had a number of 'conversations' with various police, and NEVER had any sort of problem that turned out badly, in the long run.

My guess is that your a HOT-HEAD and are argumentative and non-co-operative.

In order to stay ahead of the narrative, on Thursday, August 16, the Tampa Police Department showed the media what they will later claim "had actually happened" after they use force against civilians during the Republican National Convention, with police-play-acting-as-violent-protesters, starting a riot. Expect some of these specific play-acting-police or other government agents to actively portray themselves as protesters throughout the next weeks.

I don't tell or advise ANYONE on how to stand up for their own rights. I don't know where you encountered these BAD COPS, but if you refer to Hillsborough Sheriffs or State Police, all I can say is "you catch more flys with honey than you do vinegar.

All I do is suggest that COPS are people to - they deserve the same respect you would give anyone with whom you "do business".

I leave it at that - do what you always do, and you'll get the same treatment.

Amen brother! Just think where we'd be if those trouble makers at the Boston Tea Party, Haymarket, Stonewall, or Kent State had been put down.
Independence, fair labor practices, equal rights, and an end to Vietnam were all bad for our country and serve as a lasting badge of shame.
I try really hard to refrain from name calling, but you sir are either a troll or you are the cancer that is killing America. Give us your full name and own your words so we can all know who to ignore in the future.

As far as I'm concerned, as long as there is no CHANTING, and they simple walk around (in a circle) carrying signs, AND DON"T BOTHER ANY ATTENDEES OR PRESS, let 'em go - It Is their first Amendment right.

If they get rowdy, they deserve all they get.

Read the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights nothing violent about that....the world is getting bigger times are changing and the next generation is speaking out with their voices.........I know there are alot of people who perfer to hide it. Did we forget wiki leaked documents it is awful quite now because that man has more... Cops have a tuff job but don't take an oath and not uphold the laws and protect individual rights and most of all lie or abuse your power., that my friend makes a dangerous cop and don't be the next victim.

Chucky you very dim if you think these people are interested in anything "peacable" they use you bleeding hearts to stand up for them because you think they are exercising their rights. You are dead wrong. They WANT violence, they WANT disruption, they want anarchy. These "people" are not coming here to do anything but cause havoc and violence. I say we give it to them HARD they cannot throw bricks through storefronts when they have a broken arm. They cannot rush police lines and strike officers with a broken leg. You are their primary base. An ignorant person who has no idea og their agenda. Day one 0700 put as many in the hospital as you can and set the tone. You come here to commit violence , let's give it to them.

It's Chuck if you please. I hunt, I'm pro-gun across the board, I believe in limits in immigration, as my argument on other threads have shown I'm very pro business, and am not opposed to the death penalty. Yep- bleeding heart.
My heart does bleed though- it bleeds red, white, and blue when I hear the kind of militaristic fascist clap trap my grandfather and countless other Americans fought in Europe to eradicate. America was built on civil disobedience and standing up to be heard. The occupying British forces were the one who wanted force to crush dissent. Remember Crispus Attucks?
You argue like a pro wrestler. I'm bored with you.

i cannot believe these comments! if you all think it is right for cops to break legs to maintain their "order" then you are in the wrong country!! maybe yo should move to some more overtly fascist state. our country is a sham and its time people realize it. just the iron fist we live under is velvet lined. WAKE UP AMERIKA!!!!

Tim - Maybe you need to re-read these comments. The order of these days will be to MAINTAIN ORDER AND PREVENT DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY.

1ST Amendment rights are FREELY GIVEN TO ALL, but lawlessness won't be tolerated. If you want broken legs, I'm sure YOU can arrange for it by going outside your RIGHTS TO DEMONSTRATE.

I'm sure you seen pictures of "Foreign countries" where the bodies are just shoved into a trench and covered over. If THAT is what your looking for, I'm sure you can find it.

I would pay to go there and bash the heck out of these anarchists. You want to dissent, do it peacibly!!, throw rocks, break windows etc. I HOPE they get put in the hospital. You are the reason these scum get away with this garbage. You hurt them and they will go away. I would like to be there and hope you libtards like Chucky are on the other side. Liberals are why this country is crap right now. You cretins are anti anything traditional American. I hope you get a stick in the head if you go.

so Quentin who believes in what he says so much that he won't use his full name like most of his neighbors here are willing to do, lets change gears and bring the conversation back to local issues. How does an average citizen like yourself feel about the proposed Family Dollar in our neighborhood? This will have a much bigger impact on you than any protests across town.

From the majority of events I've witnessed, law enforcement usually instigates the violence. They're protecting the Oligarchs, not the public. I've been to many events where I was in the minority, so I was treated as such. Quentin, ever seen the G8 clips from Pittsburgh? Oh, wait, based on your comments, you might view them as pornography. Nevermind, continue to reside in your fantasy world were you truly don't have a grasp of reality. The majority of protesters create ZERO havoc on a city....meanwhile, those being protested against TRULY create the havoc in our entire world.....yet sheeple like you want to protect them??? And we wonder what's wrong with this world.

Free speech in America? You obviously haven't attended any of these type of events....they create "Free Speech Zones," which totally goes against the First Amendment. Heck, that's why we have the Free Speech, due to it not being Free back in the day and relegated to a certain area. Don't you love regressing back towards tyranny?

If you want a clue as to what the priorities are regarding the RNC....the ACLU recently had a public meeting to inform the public of their rights...a "disabled" woman in a wheelchair asked about transportation for her and her other disabled protesters......the response from the City was....."well, I'm not sure about transportation to and from the event, but there will definitely be transportation for the handicapped to the jail!!"
And we all applauded, USA! USA! USA!

You are not making the distinction between protesters and these scum. You have your head so far up ....somewhere, you cannot even comment intelligently. reality exists on several plains apparently and you are not of this world. youtube is full of videos take a look....moron

I believe in anarchy..........but it's true anarchy isn't the same as you are taught to baaalieve.

There's more "Agent Provocateurs" than people who want to cause violence......and quite often, those who commits acts of violence are 9 times out of 10 a patsy.

Please elaborate on "these scum," who exactly are they?

And the delusional people are the ones who gave the type of response I provided above.......and is it just me??? or does the photo for this story look photoshopped?

Make sure you spout your piehole off making sure they get their constitutional rights. You are beyond stupid. When the fires start, and business owners get their businesses damaged you'll be hard to find.
