Rosado Advances in 'American Idol' as Wild-Card Draw

He’s been called out for his “rich roots in gospel music and a tone that’s as smooth as butter.”

"American Idol" hopeful Jeremy Rosado of Valrico advanced as a wild-card draw in the competition this week, along with Deandre Brackensick and Erika Van Pelt.

Judge Jennifer Lopez broke into tears after Jeremy Rosado sang his heart out for one of the show's three wild card spots with a heart-wrenching rendition of Carrie Underwood's "I Know You Won't." For the first time in Season 11, each judge was allowed to send one person to safety as a wild card.

More than 33 million votes were cast over Tuesday and Wednesday for the 25 contestants.

The top 10 vote-getters were Blake High School student Shannon Magrane, Phillip Phillips, Jessica Sanchez, Hollie Cavanagh, Joshua Ledet, Heejun Han, Skylar Laine, Elise Testone, Colton Dixon and Jermaine Jones.

"This is my dream, man. I may not have been able to show you guys on Tuesday what I can do but I promise you if you do this for me, you won't regret it," Rosado told the judges Wednesday night.

Lopez was clearly moved by his promise.

"I believe in this kid," she said. "I believe in Jer Bear. I think he's got one of the most beautiful voices I've heard."

Upon hearing he'd been chosen, Rosado ran to the judges table to hug Lopez. 

"I am so grateful," he said.

"You deserve it, baby," responded Lopez.

American Idol returns March 7 when the contestants pay tribute to Whitney Houston.
