Bloomingdale High baseball player Richie Martin was named MVP in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association all-star game in Sebring on Sunday, the Tampa Bay Times reports in its Home Team blog.
Martin, a shortstop, went 4-for-5 with a triple and three stolen bases for the winning West squad over two games, the Times reports.
Ranked the 20th-best senior prospect in Florida by scouting service Perfect Game, Martin hit .438 with 19 RBIs and 21 steals for the Bulls this year, according to the Times. He could be drafted in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft this June or opt to play collegiately at the University of Florida. And later this week, he may work out for the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field, the Times reports.
