When are we going to see George W out campaigning for Romney?

Not only is Pres. Bush hiding from Romney's campaign, Republican Gov. Rick Scott is also in hiding. Romney does not want the voters to think about these failed Republican administrations because his administration will certainly be similar. Most of Romney's current advisors were in the Bush administration and they will certainly follow the same path working under a Romney administration.

Joe,
Bush has declined to work for the Romney campaign. He has choosen to currently live his life outside of politics. So that is why Bush is not a part of the campaign. As far as Scott, I cannot speak with facts why Scott isn't campaigning.

I understand President George Bush II is --no kidding-- the keynote speaker this weekend at an investor conference in the Cayman Islands! Great timing. Maybe he will phone Gov. Romney and tell him how his off-shore money is doing.

While Pres. Clinton will be speaking today in St. Pete, Pres. George W. Bush will be the keynote speaker at an "investment conference" in the Cayman Islands. The Washington Post reports that Bush's speech is “totally closed to all journalists”. The conference teaches how to hide your money in offshore financial havens like the Cayman Islands so that you can avoid paying U.S. taxes. While Clinton has been engaged in humanitarian efforts through the Clinton Global Initiative, Bush has been speaking to the wealthy on how to avoid paying U.S. taxes. The contrast between the humanitarian efforts of our former Democratic President and the unpatriotic selfishness of our former Republican President couldn't be any greater.

Bill Clinton was a great president and he continues to draw large crowds wherever he goes. This is in contrast to George W. Bush who generally hides his face due to the Republican's embarassment of his administration. Not only was Clinton the last president to have a balanced budget, he has been a great humanitarian since he left office. The Clinton Global Initiative is helping to solve global problems like climate change, global health epidemics, poverty, and income inequality. Bill Clinton is one of America's best speakers. Anyone who sees him speak in St. Pete on Friday will be inspired by his intellect and his unique understanding of Washington politics.

I don't think that anybody in here can say there life was worse under Clinton than under W. Clinton warned W. about NYC, W. didn't listen, and at least Clinton knew how to pronounce the word NUCLEAR - it's not nucular. I mean when a former President isn't even invited to the convention of his own party and asked not to campaign for the guy who is running for that party, that says it all. Romnesia, heck! The Republicans want everybody to have Bushnesia, so we forget how we got screwed for 8 years and how he left Obama to clean up the mess and us to pay the bills.

If you were getting paid what he is getting to be the Keynotes speaker, would you do that job? I have no problem with people saving their money where they want. If tragedy happens in the Cayman Islands and they lose everything, don't come crying to our government asking for insurance on money saved elsewhere.

You really have no problem that the former president of the United States is out there promoting methods for the wealthy in the US to move their money outside of the US economy? Or that the current GOP candidate, who is ridiculously wealthy, does it himself?
Maybe you really don't care, but I think that most people will see this for the abomination that it really is. They promote legislation to push the nations wealth further into this top 1% echelon of our society, only to then promote to that 1%, methods to then move that money out of the US economy. Honestly, if that doesn't bother you, then I don't know what to make of you.

Watts,
You have two vastly different issues you are trying to combine into one. Do I care where they store their money, no, it's not where they are spending their money. Is it a tax shelter, yes. But currently they are using the loopholes (which I have said many times need to disappear) to their advantage. If we are going to promote a Free Market, which was championed by Clinton then we have then we have to be consistant in that promotion. What are other countries like the Caman Islands going to spend their money on, things they need to import. We are a big trade partner with Cayman, so that money is going back to us through U.S. Exports.
As far as your assumption that the 1% doesn't run things, that doesn't matter which party you are voting for? Do you think that the rich 1% of the Democratic Party doesn't run the party. Of the issues facing this nation, where people store their cash isn't a major one, or even a minor one.
Watts

"We are a big trade partner with Cayman, so that money is going back to us through U.S. Exports." Are you out of your mind using this logic? The total population of the Cayman Islands is just 55,000 people. That is just one fifth the population of St. Pete and you think that the share of US exports that is consumed by that 55,000 people somehow offsets the last tax revenue for the billions of dollars that are being siphoned out of the US economy? Or if that money was held in US banks, how much that would improve lending for US based businesses or infrastructure?
Plain and simple, you have an ex president of the United States, using the notoriety of that position to do speaking jobs promoting moving us made money into foreign markets. Forget what you think about the actions of those who may choose to do this, but specifically, do you think that it is right for Bush to be doing this? And as a follow up question, do you think that it is right that somebody running for the presidency engages in moving his own money offshore and out of the US economy? Not talking about the average Joe Millionaire, we are talking about a for POTUS and somebody campaigning to become the POTUS.

Watt,
What lost tax revenue? The lost tax revenue from a Saving Account is what you are worried about compared to the Oil, Food, Living Goods, IT Services, etc they get from the U.S.. Yes, the population is only approximately 53,000 as of July 2012. Also the fortifying the trade with the other nations who trade in the Carribean through Cayman. Also strengthing our relations with their Parent country and our Ally Great Britian. These things are not in a vaccuum. The only two players are not just Cayman and the U.S.. Cayman also has more U.S. friendly regulations since the 1980's. You completely dismissed this follows the Free Trade of the Clinton Administration. Which I believe is quite important.
Ok, do I have a problem with private citizen George W. Bush being paid to sell a service? No. He is not representing the United States of America, he is representing a private company. They are paying for his services. Free Market economy, he is currently an United States Service exported to Cayman.
Do I think private investor Mitt Romney shouldn't be allowed to save his money in a Cayman account. No, Free Trade. Now I do think it is hypocritical for him to talking about trusting in the American Banks and Economy. Lets say he moves all of his 21 Million he earned in 2010. That is approximately .0000014% of the nation's GDP, so no real effect on the economy or banks. Fixing our infracstructure would be through Tax reform and proper legislation. Not saving acct.

First of all, you are trying to frame this as if the US is providing 100% of those goods and services to them, discounting domestic production and other, cheaper sources. That in itself is ridiculous. I looked it up and the total for all imported goods into the Cayman Islands is about 1 billion dollars. The US supplies about 70% of those goods and services, so that is about 700 million. My first company working in imports billed more than that per year, just selling compact discs. Really, if you still somehow see this as a real offset to the lost tax revenue for those who do this, then this is simply beyond your understanding. This is all pretty simple stuff to understand. For any one of the commodities being exported to the Cayman Islands, they would be that account that would always go to the new guy, because it wouldn't be a big enough account to interest the larger billing sales guys. I am sure that half of the goods imported into the CI are being handled by owner operated home businesses, because that is how small the market is.

Watt,
Would you be so against it if it was Clinton over there selling these services. Yes, only 70% of goods are imported from the U.S. and that alone doesn't offset. Services is a large portion of what is exported. The problem is you are looking at the all in a vaccuum, that trade and services to the Cayman Islands is just about trade to that island. Because that means this situation due to the fact you see everything about this an initially evil is as you put it "Beyond your understanding". Because you are stuck on the fact that Bush and Romney as private businessmen are doing this. Oh well. Do you think no Democratic politicans are doing this? Yes, trade of goods directly with the Caymen Islands are approximately 700 Million, but what of the trade and routes that are opened by that? What about our friendship with our ally Great Britain? Again, you are thinking this issue is a 1:1 issue, and it is very far from it.

While there are some good arguments for letting President Bush II stay low key, it strikes me that President Clinton has been working with his Global Initiative, President Carter has been tireless in working for Habitat for Humanity, President Bush I has had health issues but has stepped forward for charities. but President Bush II is out selling Investment strategies (legal) allowing the wealthiest among us to avoid paying federal taxes that the United States desperately needs to reduce the deficit started by his unfunded wars, large tax cuts and other poor decisions during his 8 year term. Very, very sad. And, really let's tell the truth, no one wanted to appear with President Bush II while competing in this election.

To utilize a phrase of the kids of today; that was an epic fail moment for Jeb.

People want to complain about a meeting Jr had, how about you start with the one in Waco on March 23, 2005......attended by Bush Jr, Paul Martin, Prime Minister of Canada and Vicente Fox, President of Mexico. And then perhaps you can speak with Obama about his February 4, 2011 meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
Let's talk about these meetings............not a freaking meeting that has nothing to do with you and I. People must quit focusing on the trivial things and focus on what really affects the population. What I just referenced affects us and future generations................and the sad thing is..............most who read this will not take the 2 minutes it takes to copy/paste the info into Google to see what I am talking about.
By the way, it's not just the ex-Presidents who work on holidays, the Constitutional Professor showed US all.......that is the US who are paying attention to things that truly matter..........he showed us just what he thinks of the Bill of Rights when he signed into law, the NDAA on New Years Eve 2011.
