Bell Shoals Baptist Academy to Present Author's Museum

The annual event featuring art, writing and performances by students will take place Feb. 17.

News Report

Bell Shoals Baptist Academy’s annual Author’s Museum will take place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17 at the school on 2102 Bell Shoals Rd., Brandon.

The theme for this year’s event is “A Light in the Darkness." Tammy Perkins, museum coordinator, said the event reminds people that the Word of God calls them to be a light in a dark world. Students have been studying life-changing events such as the Holocaust, 9/11, child soldiers and refugees, among many others.

Attendees will enjoy art, writing and performances crafted by the students, from the Early Learning Center through eighth grade, as they use creativity to make powerful statements about their role as Christians in a world desperate for the Good News.

Participants will be given an opportunity to be “A Light in the Darkness” by donating new and slightly used shoes for the homeless. Everyone who makes a donation will be given a card representing a child of the Holocaust. A quiet room will be available for visitors to reflect or engage in a quiet time of prayer.

Visitors also will have the opportunity to make a family tile, which will be displayed in the school’s future Writing Garden. In consideration of busy lifestyles, a complete food court will be available before and during the museum. The school will offer a variety of affordable meals, snacks and desserts.

Another ministry the museum will support is the Beit Elazraki Children’s Home in Israel. When visitors shop in the museum gift shop for fine jewelry, books and hand-crafted items, all proceeds will go to support the children's home.

“It is our desire that you will be able to enjoy a relaxing and creative evening with your family. I am humbled when I think of the joy that this evening is going to bring to our Savior, Yeshua. Surely His smile will light the evening as our children give their talents to His work,” Perkins said.
