David C. Wetmore, 82, of Valrico passed away on Sunday, June 24.
Born in Methuen, Mass., he had been a local resident for 60 years after moving here from Chicago.
Wetmore was an entrepreneur who operated several successful restaurants. Most notably, Wetmore was the proprietor of the Damn Shanty and Poor David's Soup, both popular downtown Tampa restaurants.
He loved traveling and ocean cruises and spent a great deal of time in England.
Wetmore was a favorite of his many nieces and nephews and enjoyed entertaining, telling jokes and performing card tricks.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Angela.
Services will be private.
