The Hillsborough County Family and Aging Services Department will host a reception Dec. 7 to honor the caregivers who tirelessly give of themselves to care for loved ones with Alzheimer's or other dementia-related diseases.
The Caregivers…It takes Heart and Soul Reception will be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the Oaks at Riverview Senior Center, 101 E. Kirby St. in Tampa. The event will feature food, music and free educational workshops including:
- · Living with Dementia featuring Cate McCarty, dementia coach, whose clinical experience includes more than 30 years of creating quality of life for individuals with dementia
- · Latest Alzheimer's Research Updates featuring Anitha Mogallapu, University of South Florida, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences
- · Caregiver Sleep and Nighttime Activity in Persons with Dementia featuring Meredeth A. Rowe, RN, University of South Florida, College of Nursing
- · Avoid the Holidaze featuring Dr. Jamie Huysman, author of Take Your Oxygen First
The Caregivers Reception is held yearly to recognize the care, love and attention that family caregivers provide for the residents in the county’s Adult Day Care program. The event focuses on the positive aspects of caregiving and provides a fun event for those persons dealing with the day-to-day responsibilities of their caregiving roles.
